About the Metropolitan Region:

EGA Chapters are organized into Regions, based on geography. All EGA members may participate in all chapter and region activities, regardless of their primary (home) chapter. Chapter membership provides the opportunity to meet other stitchers, attend programs, participate in many educational offerings, stay up to date via chapter and region newsletters, and learn hands-on stitching at all levels in a wide variety of techniques. Chapters often organize local exhibits of members' work.

Metropolitan Region is one of 13 Regions of the Embroiderers' Guild  of America (EGA). It is comprised of 17 chapters covering areas of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania: To find a chapter near you, check the EGA website.

The Region has two administrative meetings a year, a semi-annual newsletter (Metropoll), region-wide correspondence courses and education, online lectures, stitching projects and stitchins, periodically offers "Traveling Teacher" classes with nationally and internationally known artists, and sponsors occasional region-wide exhibits. If you want to learn or share stitching with others nearby, join us!

The Metropolitan Region Board of Directors (Executive Committee, Standing Committee Chairs, Appointees and Chapter Region Representatives) meets twice a year (April and November); all Region/EGA (you do not need to be a member of the BOD) members in good standing are welcome to attend. Meetings are normally held at the Masonic Grand Lodge ( 71 W 23rd St, New York, NY), or via Zoom, except for the spring meeting in Seminar years (held at the Seminar).

The Region Biennial Seminars (held in odd-numbered years) offer all members the opportunity to take classes in a range of skills and techniques, often from nationally acclaimed teachers.
